Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
Notolia ("we", "us") connects to your Notion workspace and turns the pages you select into quizzes. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.
Notolia is operated from France. We are the data controller for the information described below. Contact: hello@notolia.com.
2. Information we collect
Account information. Your email address and the name you provide when signing up. Notolia has no passwords: you sign in with a single-use code sent to your email.
Notion connection data. When you connect Notion, we store the access credentials Notion issues to us, together with your workspace identifier, its name and icon, and the account identity Notion returns. We never receive your Notion password.
Content you connect. To generate a quiz, we read the text of the Notion pages you select, and we retain a copy of that extracted text alongside the resulting quiz. We process text only — not images, files, or Notion databases.
Quiz data. The questions and answers generated for you.
Usage data. A record of each quiz generation, used to apply your plan's monthly allowance. This record is retained even if you later delete the quiz.
Payment data. If you subscribe, our payment provider processes the transaction and we retain only the identifiers linking your account to your subscription. We do not receive or store your card details.
Technical data. Standard server logs and IP addresses, used to apply rate limits and protect the service from abuse.
Waitlist. If you enter your email address on this website before the service opens, we store that address, and the position on the page you submitted it from, for the sole purpose of emailing you once when Notolia becomes available. The list is held by our forms provider (currently Netlify) and is deleted once the launch email has been sent, or as soon as you ask us to remove you.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the service: reading the pages you select, generating and storing quizzes, and letting you share them.
- To manage your account, including sending sign-in codes and service notices.
- To process payments and apply your plan's limits.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
- To email you once at launch, if you joined the waitlist.
- To comply with our legal obligations, such as retaining invoices.
We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not sell your data.
4. Legal bases
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract for providing the service and processing payments; legitimate interestsfor security, abuse prevention and service improvement; legal obligation for accounting records; and your consentfor the waitlist email, which you may withdraw at any time.
5. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal data and we do not display advertising. We share information only with service providers acting on our instructions, in the following categories:
- AI processing. The text of the pages you select is sent to our AI provider (currently OpenAI) to generate your questions.
- Notion. To read the pages you have granted us access to.
- Payment processing. Handled by our payment provider (currently Stripe).
- Hosting, infrastructure and email delivery. Providers that host the service and deliver your sign-in codes.
- Waitlist forms. Addresses submitted on this website are collected by our forms provider (currently Netlify).
We may also disclose information where required by law, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
6. International transfers
Some of our providers are located outside the European Economic Area. Where that is the case, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. Retention
We keep your account and quizzes until you delete them. Notion credentials are kept until you disconnect Notion. Text extracted for a quiz is deleted together with that quiz. Generation records are kept for the current billing period, and invoices for the period required by law. Waitlist addresses are deleted once the launch email has been sent, or earlier on request.
8. Security
Access to your Notion workspace is granted through Notion's official authorisation flow, is limited to the pages you explicitly share, and isread-only: Notolia never creates, edits, moves or deletes anything in your workspace. There is no password to compromise — sign-in uses a short-lived emailed code, rate-limited against abuse — and the token that renews your session is held in a cookie that page scripts cannot read. Payments are handled on our provider's hosted checkout, so card details never reach us.
You can revoke our access at any time by disconnecting Notion from your settings, or from Notion's own connected-apps settings. Quizzes you have already generated continue to work.
To report a security issue, write to hello@notolia.com before disclosing it publicly.
9. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to your personal data, its correction or deletion, a portable copy, or restriction of or objection to its processing.
You can act on most of these directly in the product:
- Disconnect Notion — deletes the credentials we hold; your existing quizzes keep working.
- Delete a quiz — removes the quiz, its questions and the page text stored for it. Your monthly allowance is not restored.
- Delete your account — removes your account, all quizzes, stored page text, Notion credentials and billing record, and signs you out everywhere.
For anything else, write to hello@notolia.com. If you are in the EU or the UK and are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
10. Children
Notolia is not directed at children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Cookies and analytics
This website uses privacy-friendly analytics that set no cookies and build no profile of visitors. The application itself uses only the cookies strictly necessary to keep you signed in.
12. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the date above. Where a change is significant, we will also notify you by email.
